Music of the Day–Louis Armstrong Plays W.C. Handy

Turned on to this album by a buddy, it has some of the best ArmstrongSt. Louis Blues I’ve heard. Truly brilliant. Incredible music, incredible performances.

W.C. Handy (1873-1958) was known by some as the father of the Blues. This album will give you a solid idea why.

Stachmo (1901-1971) was one of the most inventive cornet and trumpet players of all time. Again, you hear it on this album.  Tremendous “presence” and tremendous personality were combined with amazing talent.

Can’t recommend this album highly enough.
