This is Tutorial number 0, in a new, intensive series of tutorials (and videos) on Windows Phone 7 Application Development targeted at Silverlight Developers.
There are many good sources of information on WP7 programming now; what makes this one different is that it assumes you are already familiar with Silverlight and with C# and it has a specific course outline of material that we’re going to cover, culminating in the creation of a new open source application.
Course Outline
What follows is a general outline of the material I intend to cover in the upcoming tutorials and videos. While the order of topics is correct, some tutorials will cover an entire topic and some topics will span multiple tutorials. Think of this more as a guide than a map.
- You Already Are A Windows Phone Programmer
- Lists, Master/Detail
- Examining the navigation framework
- Examining the WP7 U.I.
- Test Driven Development and the WP7
- MVVM and WP7
- OData and WP7
- Adding Location Awareness
- Splash screens, Menus, and more
- The App Life Cycle
- . Multitasking on WP7
- . Oh! It’s A Phone Too!
That’s the first dozen. The first is a reformulation of an earlier post and will be out this week.
[Updated 8/6 to make the general topic outline clearer]
Wonderful news. Can’t wait to get started.
thx jesse.
@Sam
It is a total gas that you three are as excited about this series as I am. I’m committed to at least a dozen by the end of the year, though remember that Lotus 1-2-3 version 1A shipped, I’m told, on June 45th 🙂
Jesse,
can’t wait for the videos! With the imminent release of the windows phone 7 this october in Europe and possibly november in the US, are developers ready and equipped with enough to develop meaningful, windows phone 7 standards conforming and stunning apps for the phone? please make this number 1 priority. very excited about the videos!
oh man! i am so excited about this. thanks in advance.
Looking forward to it…
