Want a free copy?
If you’d like a free copy of Programming C# 4 direct from O’Reilly, just leave a comment indicating your interest and agreeing that after you read it you’ll…
(a) write a review on Amazon and BN.com, (good, bad or other) and, (b) if you like it, tell friends and co-workers (if not, tell me 🙂 )
Each week for the next 3 months I’ll draw a name randomly (each entry will be assigned a number and I’ll use a (pseudo) random number generator to pick one).
My Hidden Agenda
Programming C# was, for a while, the best selling book on C# and O’Reilly’s #1 .NET book. I want that back. The single best way I knew of to get it, was to ask Ian Griffiths, the smartest C# programmer I know, if he would rewrite the book; keeping what was best, removing the cruft and adding his extraordinary insight. He and Matthew Adams (an extremely sharp (pardon) guy who I don’t know nearly well enough) have done an extraordinary job.
Quite Note on Rules
This is a fairly informal system, but to make sure no one is upset, here are some rules that I hope are fairly standard:
1. I will do my best to ensure that the selection is random
2. I will select a winner sometime during every week of August, September and October 2010, though we may extend.
3. Please put your name into the comments only once
4. I will announce the winners on this blog post, and announce the update on twitter (@jeseliberty)
5. Winners must provide me with their full name, shipping address, contact phone and email. Unless you specifically ask otherwise, O’Reilly may add you to one or another of their mailing lists.
6. This is a promotional give-away from O’Reilly Media, please follow their rules and all local laws, customs and rites.
7. Void where prohibited, Your mileage may vary, Not available in sector C.

I read your blog regularly and would love to get one to read and display on my programming bookshelf.
Good luck to me!
I have owned the 2.0 and 3.0 versions and would love the 4.0. This is one of the few books I always have within reach.
I own the 4th edition and really would like to upgrade 🙂
And yes, I will follow your rules…
Kind regards, CL
Love the O’Reily C# Essentials, want the current improved version. Spread the goods.
Yes, I would love to get a copy to help me grok C#!

I’d love a copy of your new book. I’m always looking to improve my code and always enjoy your blog.
I’d love to try…
I’d looove to have a copy of the book as I’m eagerly spending most of my spare time trying to learn all the nooks and crannys of C# programming for ASP.NET and SharePoint, and I’d love to learn more about Silverlight/WPF and WP7 software development!
I promise to a) put up a honest review it on amazon.com and bn.com, and b) tell my friends in accordance to your if..then statement.. 😉
I would love to lay my hands on the book.
I would love to review your book.
I would love to read the book and write a review for it. It would be even better if it was a digital copy.
I’d like to read it and review it.
This comment intentionally left blank, in order to leave time to read the book.
I would love to read your book and would love to write a review on multiple review sites. The only thing I need is the book. I “accept” the conditions!

Random Number Generator, please choose me 🙂 … i’ll give you salt for the next seed.

I’D LOVE A COPY.

Most willing to read the book and tell everyone (even the wife) about it

Hey brow, give this copy to me, please. Here in Brazil books are very expensive. Also, the translated books are generally bad.
Regards
Count me in – would love to read the book (and review ect.)
I agree to the terms and conditions, and would love a copy!
I’d like a copy please. All conditions accepted.
I’m definitely interested in a copy of the book!
I’m interested in the book — I will probably end up buying it anyway if I don’t win, but that doesn’t mean I can’t use the money saved for something else. 🙂
I agree to the terms and conditions, promise to read it, and would love a copy!
Not only will I read the book, and write about it, I’ll probably write in the book, and dog ear pages, and cover it with various amounts of pho and phad thai, probably some hot sauce, ketchup and fried chicken grease.
I promise to read pages that make no sense to me over an over again till they play a part in my dreams even though they make no sense. In the morning I’ll explain to my wife that in the dream she was attacking a pregnant nurse with an overloaded private method that she couldn’t use because it wasn’t in her namespace (I warned you it would make no sense). Then I’ll google (or bing if that wins any brownie points) for an answer so I don’t become a pest asking questions about what is plainly on the page – eventually I’ll get it.
I might take the book with me to the coffee shop, but I won’t be buying it a half caff vanilla latte, cuz I’m selfish that way. I might leave a few coffee stains on its pages though – to go along with the phad thai.
I might take it to the beach, but it’ll probably only get left in a bag. I might even take it with me camping.
If I get a job writing anything with C# (which I am desperately trying to do) I’ll attribute my success to the book.
I will not name any children after the book 🙁 I may however, hand it to a child who complains “I’m bored.” to which I will respond “Well read a book. In fact try this one.”
I will read it not only to learn, but to have a convenient alternative to fighting with my wife who is always right in her own dreams – and anytime we argue.
I might like to say I would live the book, smell the book, feel the book, be the book…but, I’m sure I’ll probably just read the book, enjoy the book, learn from the book, and be thankful that I got the book.
I agree to your terms and conditions and would love the opportunity to read this book!
I would like a copy and agree to all the conditions.
Andrew Walker

I’m definitely interested! The first edition of this book was my saviour when learning OOP for my masters degree. It taught me more in one weekend than my OOP lecturer did in an entire module and was the sole reason for me switching from Java to C#.
